Revisiting Jim Jarmusch I decided to watch Down by Law noticing Tom Waits stars in the film.
A lecturer I once had when I studied film would use Jim Jarmusch’s Broken Flowers for every example of filmmaking in every lecture for an entire semester. This had an initial effect of making me reject the film and in turn reject Jarmusch. Cut to the end of the semester and I come back around to enjoying Jarmusch and appreciating the filmmakers film making of his films. The lecturer pointed out the visual reinforcement Jarmusch would utilise. When a character has to make a decision they will me standing at a literal crossroads for example.
How unsophisticated the start is compared to the end.
